Wellness

Dismal grey sky
Trees awaiting warmth
Snow covers the ground
like a fleece blanket
All is preserved
’til Spring’s breeze softens
Winter’s icy grasp.

I wonder if Winter will end
I also wonder if it will begin
El Nino likes trickery.

As I grow older
weather worsens
leaves me cold and damp
bones aching
muscles tensing
Just get through,
it’s almost over.

Going through the motions
is boring; it sucks.
We need meaning,
variety, challenge,
change, and stress
to be happy and whole.
Wholeness leads to wellness.
