2025 – Week 9

I was too tired after travelling to work on my knitting as I watched The Mummy on TV. I did make quite a bit of progress on my vest later on in the week. My embroidery kit to practice stitches came earlier than it was supposed to. I needed something else I could do as my hands were a bit sore.

On Monday, I had a yummy sushi lunch with some friends. My brother was released from the hospital on Tuesday and slept much of that day. The rest of the week became ridiculous. My brother had to go to the hospital because his feet were swelling and one was leaking. They took blood, upped his one med, told him to wear compression socks. This was the day of a small snow storm, so that made everything extra. The next day, my dad did snow removal so I could go get the socks. Well, it was a fight to put those on. Dad got ill that night and was sick for several days. With my other brother getting over the same bug, everything seemed really awful. The dog was also really clingy and paced a lot in the night, so sleep was rough. It was dark night of the soul stuff. If you don’t know what that is, that’s the part in a film where the hero is at a really low point and wants to give up because everything is awful and seems hopeless.

I meant to wash my car as it got really filthy on the way to my dad’s. He rinsed it off, so it’s not quite as bad as the image now. It’s having an issue with the washer fluid. Some kind of intermittent slow leak. We couldn’t figure out where it is, so I’ll be packing extra fluid with me for the trip home next week. On the way though, the one jet was a bit plugged up, so it didn’t spray right. We got that squared away.

I figured out my target for weight-loss journey. There is a lot more room to workout at my dad’s, so I wanted to make use of that and decided to aim for 3 days of exercise per week for a bit. I’m aiming for 150 minutes per week for now. I did all my challenge exercises, got about 30 minutes of skating in, and did extra walking this week.

I have softball on the brain, so a sapphic softball story is my current read.

Goal Setting and Tracking

Goals are often supposed to be S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely), but sometimes life throws a monkey wrench into things and the list becomes far more nebulous. Being flexible can be so important at times like this.

  • Arts and Crafts: Knit vest – knit 35 lines. ✅| Draw something. ✅
  • Friends and Family: Visit some friends and help out at my dad’s as needed.✅
  • General and Miscellaneous: Wash the car.❎
  • Health and Fitness: Exercise at least three times this week.✅
  • Reading and Writing: Catching Feelings by Ana Hartnett Reichardt – 2 Chapters ✅| Edit Sparker Chapter 11. ❎
