Monday had me in pain. We’ve been having a lot of weather changes lately including temperature and barometric pressure. I eased into the day. I felt a bit paralyzed by all the things that needed attention in my condo. I’m hoping to square it all away before softball season starts. Eventually, it warmed up and I wasn’t sore, so I sanded my kitchen.
It was off to Farm Boy for some plant-based food items on Tuesday morning. After, I had a falafel wrap for breakfast. I’ve been needing premade food options that are healthy. I took a look at Factor, but most of the sample menu has milk in it somewhere, even if it could easily be made without it. As I exited Farm Boy, an elderly woman offered to help me carry my bags to my car. I declined, but what a kind gesture!
I watched The Game Changers documentary on elite athletes who eat plant-based diets. I found I was experiencing many of the benefits despite only being a couple of weeks into this diet change. I’ll talk about this more in the future.
I was happy to see my therapist as I was still a bit knotted up after the time spent in my hometown. She worked the kinks out of my muscles and the rest of the afternoon was for relaxing before mudding my kitchen some more. This part of a reno takes forever. Especially when old drywall and new drywall are slightly different in thickness. I need to get this part done well enough for it would be easy to clean once the wall is painted.
I took it easy on Wednesday. I was on vacation and decided some extra sleep and relaxing were in order. There were two PWHL games that night and Canadian teams won both of them. Montreal was the first team to make the playoffs. Ottawa Charge still has a chance, but they really have to tighten things up to make it happen. They go soft in third period and look like they run out of energy. Maybe they should change how they fuel up for playing.

On Thursday, I went to see Death of a Unicorn with Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. It was magical, mythical, horrifying, and wonderful. I think I’ll need a copy of it on Blu-Ray when it comes out.
By Friday, I still wanted to take it easy some, so I eased into the day with Stardew Valley. I got some writing done on a new project. I know I should be finishing my other ones, but I’m really excited about it and needed to start fleshing the characters out! I did that. Next, I need to figure out the main character and what kind of story I’m wanting to tell. It’s a different way than I usually approach my writing, but it’s a different type of story as well.
I took the weekend off and let myself rest mostly. Saturday had Ottawa get the regulation win they so desperately needed to have a chance at the playoffs. I love my team, but sometimes it feels like torture! They are often struggling in the defense department and endurance to make it through period three. The win felt like a miracle. In the evening I went to House of Targ for a postpunk doom drone music night with some friends. Not a genre I prefer. It’s intriguing, but there isn’t really a song structure. One performance lasts however long it lasts with no real climax, verse, solos, chorus, bridges, etc. It’s definitely more of an experience that is probably best undertaken with psychedelics. On Sunday, Toronto lost to Minnesota. It was very sad. It was also the usual Pathfinder game night. We were close to level and needing to do that before we tackle the big baddy. The night had us deal with some ochre jellies, chat with kobolds, and survive some undead dwarves. I’ll be swapping out a bad spell for something better.
Goal Setting and Tracking
I didn’t set goals for my vacation week beyond resting and relaxing.
