Monday was a busy day at work lining up new fiscal year tasks and plugging away at them. In the evening, I prepped for karate and for a future queer jam night.
It was a snowy day on Tuesday with yet another storm in the region. My green smoothie did not thaw in the time it was supposed to. Work was challenging. Sometimes I wonder how some people ever reached adulthood. I was thankful for karate that evening to work out some frustrations.
Karate was OK. I felt like fainting twice. Whether that was because I hadn’t eaten enough or wasn’t breathing correctly, I’m unsure. They put me with the regular part of the class instead of the absolute beginners because they were worried I would be bored otherwise, but it was a bit confusing, so I think I’ll ask to go with the beginners next week. I’ll naturally progress faster from having past training anyway, but only if I really get the fundamentals down and some things are different with every school. It’s a kata-only school and I’m good with that at my age and with how many past injuries I have. I think they spent too long on warmups, which made the second half of the class feel rushed.
I made the decision this week to have some animal products. As great as I felt the first couple of weeks, I already noticed some troubling things despite supplements. I think a Mediterranean style diet that is primarily plant-based with some lean and not processed animal products is the way to go for me to keep inflammation low and stay healthy.
I’d be surprised, but I’ve never been into extremism of any kind.
Wednesday was a hard day for me. After work, I just opted to chill on the couch with Buffy. A new series is on the way eventually and I hope they do it well. Sarah Michelle Gellar is supposed to be involved in some capacity, so that is a good sign.
Thursday was softball registration day. I completed my registration and paid right away to ensure I was in. I got some pho and it was the first thing in a while that I felt really good after eating. Because pho is often gluten free. So I’m back to gluten free and lactose free going forward.
I had been feeling so ill this week. I felt like I was dying, which was how I felt when I first came to Ottawa before seeing a nutritionist. I almost went to the hospital because eating has been so hard and I had so many bad symptoms like nausea, dizziness, shakiness, fatigue, pain, etc. I noticed that I wanted to vomit after eating half a multigrain English muffin. A lot of pre-made vegan products have wheat in them as a filler. I hadn’t been thinking about it at all, but I felt really ill after being at my dad’s too after eating so much with wheat in it. I just thought it was stress. I’m sure that didn’t help, but I’m glad I figured it out before I got any sicker. A nutritionist had me on a gluten free diet back then and it helped a ton. All the symptoms I’ve had point to celiac disease as it messes with the ability to absorb key vitamins and minerals like B12, D, C, and Magnesium. I wish I had clued into it sooner, but at least I know what to eat and not for sure now.
I also want to scream at the world for putting dumb things like lactose in vitamins. Seriously. WTAF? People who have intolerances more commonly need to supplement, so putting lactose, one of the most common things to be intolerant to, in a supplement is immensely stupid!
By Friday, I was already starting to feel better, thankfully. Saturday brought some ankle pain, but it’s normal with all I’ve been through over the past month or so. Because of everything, I didn’t work on the reno on Saturday. I felt like my body and mind could use a day away from it to recover more fully. Saturday also brought a choir-related outing. I wasn’t entirely sure what was going to happen at Show Tune Showdown, but it sounded like an interesting evening out with friends. It was silly and fun. I enjoyed the chaos of the evening. Three quartets competed. They sang numbers they had prepared, but there was a game show component, so they would have to guess a song then perform it. An audience member even ended up singing a piece.
On the way home, a bunny crossed my path. Hopefully, that means good things are in store for me because there has been a lot of difficulty in recent weeks. Saturday into Sunday was the night of the pink moon. I do an oracle card pull from my Fairy Oracles deck with each full moon, so I track it every month. The card for this moon cycle is Flourish:

Sunday was the usual weekly Pathfinder session. We defeated the lower level boss and some other minions before reaching a set of doors that may lead to the final boss. We’ll know for sure in a couple of weeks since one member is away for Easter.
I danced with Penny in Stardew Valley. I plan to save that woman from the slums. She seems really sweet.
