We are 20 weeks into the year?! I feel like I haven’t accomplished much. I’m not sure that’s true, but there are a lot of things I’m wanting to do that I haven’t been able to. Things are turning around though.
Monday was a pretty average day, but I caught up on the sleep I needed after several really social days in a row. Work went by fairly quickly and I had more energy than I have in a long time.
On Tuesday, my Sensei surprised me with strips on my belt at karate. I’m studying Goju Ryu, which is a style I started shortly before moving to Ottawa 13 years ago this month.

Then I watched the PWHL game. On Sunday, Ottawa Charge and Montreal Victoire went into quadruple over time in game two. Would they do it again on Tuesday? Turns out, no.
There have been a lot of ridiculous captions lately:
- Grant Mentis: Grand Mentos… She’s really fresh?
- Desbiens: Maybe Ben’s
- Marie-Philip Poulin: Elite Pool lane/Poland/Poo Lawn
- Boulier: Boolean
- Tapani: Happening
- Peslarova: Castle Laura/Tesla roll/Tesla robe
- Vasko: Costco
- Vanisova: Benicia/in each of us
- Ashton Bell: Some Bella
- Jocelyn Laroque: Jocelyn will rock
- Hannah Brandt: Can of Grants
- Danielle Serdachny: Daniel turned acne/Sir Daphne
- Mayor Sutcliffe: Maricliff
Wednesday was the first practice with my softball team. It went well. I was a bit sore after karate, but I am looking forward to playing together more. It was a bit buggy out. I’m thinking of trying one of those devices that makes them go away rather than using spray this season because I overdid the spray last season and made myself ill.
After, I really would’ve liked to go to one of the only places I can safely eat fries from, but I couldn’t find my wallet before practice. I was so annoyed, that I ordered a thing to attach to it that will ping, so I won’t be screwed over in the future. I fought with Apple crap for awhile because sometimes Apple works in dumb ways. Like, I had every email address I’ve ever had on my own contact in the contacts app, so it wanted them all in Apple Wallet, which caused issues when I wanted to pay. It also put things like my work address, which also caused issues. It wasn’t enough to have defaults set for some reason. After, I watched the Toronto Sceptres vs Minnesota Frost game and hoped Toronto would get their ducks in order, so they wouldn’t be out of the playoffs. I’ve been hoping they would kick Minnesota out. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
On Thursday at choir, we finished a song and got through much of a medley. It was a bit brain breaking at times, so my section got giggly. Perhaps we all needed the stress relief that only a good laugh can bring. I always feel good after choir. Singing in a group can boost oxytocin levels, which is extra good when single.
My first order of business for my long weekend staycation that began on Friday was to install my air conditioner. It’s been seriously warm in Ottawa and though a storm was anticipated, the forecast didn’t show the heat levels going down any to more seasonal temperatures. Perhaps this is the new normal where there were about two days of spring jacket weather. This install has caused some issues for my food prep area in my living room as I lost an outlet, but I’ll figure it out.
Saturday was spent vacuuming and washing the walls with TSP to be ready for painting, which I pushed to Monday because Sunday was a big day for Pathfinder. It was our last session of this campaign and we planned to start early, so we could go celebrate after with some pinball. Six hours later, we watched a trailer for our next campaign before heading to free play night at House of Targ. They had a new D&D machine. Of course, we played it a couple of times. I enjoyed the Halloween franchise machine the most.
The campaign had a lot of fun moments, but a whole campaign focused on kobolds meant a lot of kobolds and I felt fatigued by them. Also, the travel time was lengthy and made the campaign unnecessarily longer. We’re breaking for a bit while my friends get ready to move and I work on my kitchen.
I finished watching The Magicians this week and I don’t like that a character left the way they did. I knew something was off despite not having read the books. Speaking of reading, I’m really enjoying The Tapestry of Time by Kate Heartfield.
I tried and failed to stickerbomb my batting helmet, so I put the stickers on my planner instead:

I decided I would put some paint from each team colour on my helmet instead. I need to get some silver for this year’s team.
