This week required some effort to tidy my home some to ensure safety during the ongoing renovation. I got one of those under bed storage containers for this drying rack I’m not currently using. It fell over the other day and made a giant mess of my bedroom, which was already getting into a bad situation.
Laundry would also be a task to focus on this week. And dishes.
It was very hot for Tuesday karate. There is air conditioning, but it only helps so much when one is punching and kicking. We began learning breakfalls. From the floor. I was thankful for the shortness of our classes because this meant I only had to do 3 of them. My body reacted rather like a car having all its dashboard lights on. I took a moment to breathe and then class was over. Then I got salad items because it was way too hot to cook anything.
I didn’t sleep well that night at all. A noontime nap on Wednesday helped me get through the work day, but I stayed in the air conditioning and just did some chores because anything else felt like too much.
By Thursday, I was still a bit tired, but I felt a lot better, so it was off to choir. It was a really good night once I moved closer to the rest of my section and could hear better. And I got a parking ticket cancelled because the issuer was in the parking lot. Some 20-something who was only checking the app and not the dashboards of people’s vehicles. I hope he learned something from the experience. Yes, these previous two sentences make me feel old.
Friday held 4 meetings for me at work. It was a very long day, but I was able to get everything ready to publish a tender next week. I also got a bit of tidying done in my bedroom that was sorely needed. Softball that night was an early bar night because there was so much lightning that it was unsafe to play. That’s how it goes sometimes, unfortunately. But it was nice spending time with friends at the bar.
On Saturday, I packaged up the twin bed frame I’ve been needing to purge. I took it to a furniture donation that was happening as part of my area garage sale. I felt that was easier than selling it online with all the scheduling and nuisance that often brings. Once it was out of my car, I felt so relieved. Between that and the work in my bedroom, I had hope of having a proper living space again someday soon. There is a lot left on the kitchen, but taming the rest of my space was needed, so I did more of that on Saturday after dinner before watching a movie.
I also began my research into wines to replace my favourite since it is from California. The first, Bodacious Smooth Red was just OK for me. I found it a bit too sweet and I could still taste the yeast. It’s not terrible if you’re just getting into red wine, but I guess I developed a palate somewhere along the way.
On movies, I’ve been in a Kevin Smith mood lately, so I’ve watched Dogma, Clerks, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. I had wanted to rewatch Dogma for awhile now and I laughed so much I needed more Kevin Smith. I think I also own Mallrats and Chasing Amy, so those are next. I think I need Clerks 2. And there are probably other films that I missed.
Sunday held some errands and a lot of Stardew Valley. It was a needed break. I want to get back to things like my Fairy Cross-Stitch and a miniature kit so very badly, but I need to do other things right now.
