2025 – Week 24

We’re quickly approaching halfway through the year and I absolutely refuse to have the kitchen take as long as the bathroom did. Over lunch on Monday, I picked up the filler I needed for parts of the floor. I also got a stubby screwdriver to let me move forward. It has all its bits inside of it and if I knew this type of thing existed, I would have made my toolbox around things like this as they take up so much less space and stay neat and tidy. There may be a tool declutter coming after this project is done.

That evening was the expansion draft for the two new PWHL teams in Vancouver and Seattle. Prior to that, I went thrifting for some summer clothing options. Ottawa lost several good players and it hurts. Hopefully, we fair well between upcoming trades and after the entry draft on June 24th!

On Tuesday, I headed to karate. I’ve been going once every two weeks while dealing with this kitchen thing. I’ve reduced one activity and choir is ending this month until the fall, so I will have more time for the renovation though I hope to finish it by the end of June. At least the parts within my control. I also got the one thing I kept forgetting to buy, expanding foam! I needed it before I could ever hope to put my sink in as I didn’t want to leave any places for pests to hide.

Rumour has it that there is a belt test next week. I’ve registered for the next session. Did I mention I dislike ironing cotton martial arts outfits?

I helped friends move some items on Wednesday. The sooner they get settled, the sooner we can have game nights again. Something to look forward to for sure. Hopefully, our rolls are better in this next campaign because some tasks took way more time than they should have! I’m going DPS in this round because I had way too many spells to handle last time and I felt overwhelmed. Stabby, stabby, sneaky, sneaky instead or something like that. I haven’t decided a bunch of things yet.

Thursday held choir practice. We had an unplanned visitor, while the event upstairs was on a break, who thought we sounded lovely. I sure hope so since our performance is next Sunday! We brainstormed for TBA future reasons.

In softball, we were finally able to play game two of the season on Friday. We doubled the other team’s score and I got two runs!

On Saturday, I took in a learning lesson on writing given by a Twitch friend. Presentations by other writers are usually worthwhile because we all have different methods or tricks to continue putting words down. I want to get back to my writing even more since the session. The rest of Saturday held some chores and helping my friends out. I also made a bit of progress on the renovation.

This is on the stove side of the kitchen that I haven’t demolished yet. I’m working on moving things around, so I will have space to store the items from the bottom cupboard. I took down two of the three corner shelves because I will be making a spice rack for this area. I’m not happy with the magnetic metal ones I have. They get stuck and become hard to use, so I want upright bottles in the future. There really shouldn’t have been anything attached to the part that is jutting out here because that’s the air shaft for venting the stove.

I chose to relax on Sunday. I didn’t want to make noise for those near who might be celebrating Father’s Day and I needed a day off.

In Stardew Valley, my wife and I have adopted a boy I named Kai. Sometimes she calls him David Jr. Should I worry?

À bientôt!
