Another week bites the dust…
Before I get into my weekly updates, I am offering condolences to all in Hong Kong right now. I can’t imagine what you are all going through. It’s quite violating to have something like the very structures you have lived with for so long to result in the devastation you are going through.
Decluttering and Minimalism
I reached a point on my kitchen renovation where I had to wait before I could do more on it. I’ve been working on some of my reorganization during this time because it will really help clean up my living space. I need one Kallax unit from IKEA to make it all work fully.
But I can get a lot done without that unit in the meantime anyway, even before my fridge is out of the way entirely.
DIY and Projects
I hadn’t been looking forward to grouting. I had problems with it on the backsplash and I had been worried about having issues on the flooring. At least much of the fridge area won’t be visible, so it was a good place to work out issues. What it taught me quite quickly is that I could only handle working on it in small sections. It was very hard on my hands. Also, even though the container says you can start cleaning up right away, it is best to wipe less and clean more later. Just get the main grittiness off of it because one can’t get it all off without pulling a bunch of the grout out of the spaces it needs to be in.
By Saturday morning, I got the grout thing figured out much better and got the fridge area done.

It needed 48 hours to cure, so other than carefully cleaning the grout haze off of the stones, I couldn’t do a lot on the project in that area. I was awaiting more flooring, which was late arriving, and I needed to do other things before installing more flooring anyway. It was time to focus on the other side of the kitchen for a bit and my reorganization! Finally!!
But I took the rest of the weekend off as my right hand was seriously unhappy. Resting it felt like the smartest thing to do.
Education and Sprituality
I don’t know why, but I never expected to be learning the skeletal diagrams for the molecular makeups of things like palmitate when I signed up for this course. It was labelled as being for beginners. I’m not complaining. I just hope I won’t be tested on that. I made a bunch of progress on the course over the weekend and I’m excited to be learning about exercise in this way as it may help me better understand what I need as someone with autoimmune conditions.
I recently went back to Duolingo for French. They have changed some things and it seems way less abusive than before. Thankfully. I think the time away has been helpful, so I will do that on purpose at times to let the words sink in.
Gaming and Puzzles
I think I’m nearing the end of the base game for Disney Dreamlight Valley. I had a brief run in with The Forgotten. I think I only need two orbs at this point. But I’m looking forward to moving Scar onto his own island. Go pretend to be king elsewhere!
But I must be wrong because the game says I’m only 16% through the main game. I do have a lot of doors to unlock yet in the castle, so I guess that makes sense. I’m relieved because I don’t want to spend more money yet given everything else I have going on at home.
Oh, I accidentally brought Jack Skellington to my world and I’m so stoked about him being there! I moved my mushroom house into the goth biome. He lives there and so does the fairy Godmother in her pumpkin house.

Music and Songwriting
Choir went really well this week. I was sitting beside some sopranos this week, but managed to find my notes! I couldn’t do that when I was young, so I’m really happy about it. I think it’s also helping strengthen my breathing in general. I wonder how that may affect softball next season.
Reading and Writing
I got a lot of reading done this week and I only have five and a half chapters left on my current read.
