Will January ever end? I’ve begun the week probably anemic again. At least now I have a doctor, so I booked an appointment with him for later this week. Hopefully, we can get at the root cause and fix it. Every time I get feeling somewhat OK, my cycle happens and I’m back to square one. This hasn’t helped with the renovation or basic daily life.
Monday was spent working from bed given how awful I was feeling. Otherwise, I watched the first two Addams Family films. They were part of my 2025 Christmas gifts. The cheesy rap song doesn’t really go with the goth vibes, in my opinion.
Tuesday began with torture… I mean fillings. They were small, so not as bad as I thought they would be. My mouth was frozen for awhile and even after, my top lip felt weird for a bit. I still felt pretty awful, so worked from my bedroom again.
The evening held an Ottawa Charge game against New York’s Sirens. Since Montreal had put an end to our winning streak then lost to New York, I really wasn’t sure how it was going to go.
It was a roller coaster. Early on, Ottawa got three goals. Then we blew the lead and had some scary moments. It looked like we were about to lose it when a pass failed and New York got on a rush during over time. Our amazing goalie, Spider Gwyneth Philips, made the save and we managed to score and win the game. Phew!
Wednesday was a long day. By noon, I felt like I had already worked a full day. It’s the time of year where people are trying to get everything done before fiscal year end. Add some retirements and it has been hectic and exhausting, especially with whatever is going on with my body.
In the evening, Montreal Victoire won in over-time against the Minnesota Frost a.k.a. The Frosted Flakes. That’s my personal name for them. Captain Clutch, a.k.a. Marie-Philip Poulin, got the much needed winning goal. Their goalie, Ann-René Desbiens was amazing, as usual. For some reason, the announcers really have trouble with French names except for Boulier. They can say that one. It’s actually more complicated than Poulin is and Poulin is one of the world’s best female players ever, so it would be nice if they would learn how to say her name correctly!
During the game, I worked on my beginner embroidery kit as I didn’t have the energy for much else.
I looked forward to the appointment with my doctor on Thursday though I wasn’t looking forward to going out into the cold. Thankfully, the cold snap hadn’t arrived yet. He’s checking me for a few things. Some are scary. Hope we figure out what is up and that it’s easily correctable. I’m tired of feeling like a car with all its dashboard lights lit up.
The lab didn’t have the line placement clearly marked, which caused some drama. People have all kinds of things going on in their lives and small things like that can be the last straw. Things calmed down and I was able to get my turn over with sooner than expected.
Friday evening was spent with alumni friends and other writer friends online as we all hibernated from the extreme cold weather hitting our region. It was nice catching up with them. After that, I felt very tired. It had been a long week and my body was unhappy.
I felt a bit better on Saturday. I’ve been learning to go slow like my 81-year-old father. I shouldn’t have to, but I do right now. It’s annoying. But I got a veal stew made and watched the Ottawa Charge game. We can’t seem to beat Montreal. That’s annoying too. Anyway, I chopped things up during the intermissions and just had the meat left by the end of the game.
Then I watched some Twin Peaks. I’m still on the second season. It has a unique charm that comes from David Lynch. The acting is good, but a little weird. The writing too. Days are often rather normal and then it randomly has a mystical mystery from time-to-time.
Sunday was about staying warm and conserving energy. I hoped it wouldn’t be long before I heard why I’ve been feeling so crummy. I played a bit of Hytale with friends as Update 2 just happened. They fixed some mining and farming issues. There were other things, but I’m still gathering materials for my own home.
Catch you on the flip side,
Rae
