I’m truly sad about Catharine O’Hara. She was in so many films and shows I’ve loved over the years including Home Alone, Beetlejuice, and Schitt’s Creek. Whenever I saw her in the cast, I knew I was going to enjoy the experience. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been on the planet at the same time as her. The world won’t be the same without her.
January is finally over! Rest and recovery have been my main focus this week. I have felt a bit better every day. Other than unreliable amounts of energy, and a messed up sleep cycle, I still have a lot of joint pain. I hope that disappears soon. My knuckles are especially sore. My right wrist and right ankle are up and down.
One particular knuckle has been extra effected by this deficiency; my right ring finger’s top knuckle. It’s double-jointed and has become overly hypermobile during this period.
Despite mainly taking it easy this week, I got some laundry done, brought some items to donation, put gas in my car, and took steps on my condo reorganization.
This weekend, I was able to relocate my craft desk to my bedroom. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner since a lot of my crafting supplies were already in there. And I felt like having a desk I can retreat to in my bedroom is especially good for winter, so I can save some on heating.
In between the women’s hockey games at the Olympics, I worked away at my reorganization a little at a time. My media cabinet was moved where my craft desk was. This is near the balcony door, which isn’t the warmest area of the condo, so I’m tired of sitting near it. I will figure out how to stop the draught someday, but nothing has worked yet, so I feel like this is for the best. It wasn’t working for me for other reasons anyway. I only got it emptied of the movies and games, and moved in place on Saturday. The refill happened on Sunday.

Once upon a time, my computer desk was there, but along with the cold, I couldn’t make use of the standing option well as my ukulele would get in the way. I think this is going to be a great solution. I’m so happy to have a proper spot for my internet modem, router, and printer. Too bad I forgot some movies due to them being in the TV series box since that’s where there was space for them. Ah well, I’ll get back to them soon.
Yet to occur is the move of my computer desk as I need to do some purging first. I plan to move it to where the cabinet was. It’s currently on the other side of the door. The baseboard heater is there, but it hasn’t been working as well as I’d like this winter. Something to investigate soon, for sure. I plan to put workout items near there instead. I have a curtain wall that will hide that all from the main part of my living space.
Also on the weekend, I played some Hytale and I began Warframe as a Mag. In Hytale, I built a factory for eventual use as automation is coming soon. I really enjoyed played Warframe. It has some things in common with Destiny 2, but I feel like there is more story happening and more actual quests. It’s possible I didn’t go far enough into Destiny 2 to experience that content though.
This week, I also got ready for the Milano Olympics by making a tracker for the women’s hockey games.

The Olympics officially began on Friday, but for fans of women’s hockey, they began early Thursday morning with Sweden vs Germany. My great grandmother was from Sweden, so that is where my support went. Sweden had taken nearly four times as many shots by period two and were up 3-1 heading into second intermission. I felt bad for Sandra Abstreiter, but happy my team was ahead. Abstreiter is a backup goalie for the Montreal Victoire. Germany’s outfits looked really good.
Italy vs France was next and Italy took it. I had hoped France would, alas, it was not meant to be. Italy wearing blue is odd to me. I don’t know why they didn’t find a nice green to wear instead. USA beating Czechia wasn’t a shock though I was cheering for the underdog. They are coached by Carla MacLeod, who coaches the Ottawa Charge.
Friday came and Japan took France. I don’t know what’s going on with the French team, but I doubt they’ll be in quarterfinals at this point. There are only four games per team to get there and only the top three in Group B will advance. All of Group A will be in quarterfinals and those teams generally play at a higher level than Group B. Czechia lost to Switzerland, and Switzerland had at least one player come down with Norovirus. This caused some fear that Team Canada would catch it at their meeting on Saturday.
Germany beat Japan on Saturday morning, but Japan didn’t go down without some fight. They scored a couple of goals when they were down by 5. Alas, it was too little too late. Sweden met Italy on the ice and scored early. They won it. USA took Finland. Team Canada finally got to have their first game and Emerance Maschmeyer earned an Olympic shutout against Switzerland.
Except for France, most of my predictions have been accurate.
Go Canada Go!!!
Catch you on the flip side,
Rae
