Well, my week started off with some less than exciting news. On Monday evening, I opened my door to find a note taped to my door informing me that pest control would be visiting all the units on Thursday. Wow, such a great amount of notice. Not.
Since then, I’ve had to put the renovation on hold, though I did get a small amount of backsplash up. Instead of putting my kitchen back together, I’ve had to clean. Was I planning to clean soon anyway? Sure. But on the long weekend!
In happier news, my tire change was quick on Wednesday and my countertop arrived mostly safe. The plastic is a bit torn on it and I’m not sure if that is going to be a problem or not. Nothing I can do about it though. It’s very heavy, so I’m very glad I got it delivered. It’s now living in my entrance until I’m done with the backsplash. I’m hoping to be done the backsplash this weekend, but my energy levels may be in the red given all the cleaning. I did get a small amount up before the cleaning had to begin though.

On the upside, I may be able to move my desk to where it should be sooner because of this. I also brought several boxes to donation. Perhaps I’ll have the rest of my home back sooner because of this? Time will tell!
Thursday came around and it wasn’t until nearly 2PM they were in my hallway. Then the cleaner informs me that I’m not on the list she has for pest control! Apparently, I didn’t need to panic clean for two days after all. I could’ve had my backsplash done instead! In the evening, it grew quite cold. I fitted a door sweep for my balcony door and used two-sided tape to put it in place temporarily. This seemed to reduce the cold some. We had a frost warning, but there was cold air coming in and I think I’ve finally stopped it. I plan to get a rain guard for the front of the door soon too.
On Friday, the property team emailed to say we would have no power for two hours. There was nothing on the Hydro website about this supposed maintenance. Nothing happened. It has me seriously doubting their competence at this point with two blips in one week.
I felt like continuing some of the cleaning on Saturday. It’s been such a welcome improvement. I got more of my furniture moved. There is now one area left to clean up in my living room and I need to do it before I will be able to cut my countertop since that is the best location I have to set up to do that.
Sunday’s sword swinging was so good for me despite my Achilles tendons being slightly uncooperative. Going back to the dojo has felt like going home in many ways. I’m really thankful to be back studying iaido. It was also helpful to distract me from the fact that it was Mother’s Day and my mom is wherever we all go after this plane of existence.
After class, I also put my tires back in storage and moved some items I’d need sooner closer to the door. Items like my air conditioner and golf clubs.
Otherwise, I’ve mostly been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley lately. I recently got the Storybook Vale expansion and it’s so cute from the perspective of a reader who games. I will probably get the final expansion once I’ve unlocked all the known characters in this one. I’m kicking myself for not jumping on getting BB8 as a companion in the shop. I hope they bring them back some day. I was deliberating between R2D2 and BB8 and ended up not getting either.
PWHL Playoffs
I didn’t watch much of the second Victoire vs Frost game because the stream quality was pretty bad and I had to focus on the condo cleaning. I do know that the Victoire pulled out a 1-0 win in the third over time period. Sounds like it was quite a game.
On Wednesday, the PWHL announced the first of the next set of expansion teams. PWHL Detroit would be the first of the next expansion teams. They’ve been huge supporters at the Takeover Tour games and they have a lot of girls hockey going on to help feed into the league. They were one of the more obvious choices. Three more are expected, but the rumours abound on where the PWHL will be going next.
After all the cleaning, everything became a blur for me. All I know is that Victoire and Frost are tied with one game left on Monday.
The Charge pulled out a win in regulation at Canadian Tire Centre on Friday. Aerin Frankel’s last stop attempt resulted in the puck rebounding into the goal. With twenty something seconds left in the game, it sealed the deal for the Ottawa Charge.
On Sunday, the wonderful women of the Ottawa Charge won the series and advanced to the final playoff round. Hopefully, whoever they face this year will result in Ottawa bringing Walter home. The Walter Cup needs to come to Canada.

It was a strange week, but overall I think it was mostly a good one. Despite the exhaustion, even the cleaning has made me feel like I’m truly getting close to having my home back.
Catch you on the flip side,
Rae
