2026 – Week 24

On Monday, I weighed myself. It’s not a huge change, but I’ve lost 9lbs since January. I’ve been very sporadic in tracking this part of my health journey with the injuries, the low Vitamin D, and the autoimmune flares. Considering all of that, I’m happy I’ve lost any at all. I am starting to see it in my face though, so I’m taking it as a good sign. It’s only one piece of the story anyway. I feel my body getting stronger and building muscle is more important than just looking at one number. Also, my body composition can change without the scale moving. I’ve had to increase healthy carbs to properly support the increased activity I’m doing.

Tuesday morning began with a headache. I haven’t had one in awhile. I had woken early, so I had time to have some water and take something before going back to bed until I absolutely had to get up. By then, I wasn’t 100%, but I felt a lot better. By the evening, I felt a lot better and was able to go to martial arts. Tuesdays are an open practice night to work on whatever. Everyone who comes just does their own work. I have a lot of kata I didn’t know very well in the Koryu side of things and even some of the more beginning kata I was forgetting entirely or haven’t gotten used to doing as standing-only only. Lots of room for improvement for sure.

On Wednesday, a new Disney Dreamlight Valley event began. I’m now a button maker. Whatever that means. I spent a lot of time mining with Scrooge McDuck. And making many cupcakes. It’s the Dreamlight Parks Fest. I’m waiting for a couple of the quests to open up, so I can finish the achievements for it. We also got Hercules and Phil recently and I think they made an “interesting” choice for the shape of Hercules’ hair.

I should really learn to do proper screenshots from the game someday when I’m not feeling so overwhelmed by all the things in life.

This week I bought a window air conditioner, but I didn’t have the right kind of windows for it and it was going to be an immense amount of work to make it work, so I returned it. I just didn’t feel comfortable with all of the effort and the fact that I live on the third floor. I ordered a hopefully better portable one. It’s dual hose, so it should be better. I had taken a look inside the single hose one I had and it had rust, corrosion, and an area that looked burnt. No wonder it was error coding. I figured that would be hugely expensive to fix, so I got to doing some research. Best Buy had a dual hose unit on sale that people were saying worked well and it was decently budget-friendly. It should arrive next week when it’s cooler.

The week went by pretty fast, but it was too hot to do much of anything but sit in front of the TV with a fan on me, so I worked on my Fairy Cross-Stitch. I am feeling the pull daily to start the next project, but I’m fighting to finish it first. I plan to try out this gridding method from YouTube that uses lightweight, coloured, fishing line. The next is a stamped kit. I had thought I would do the wolf one, but it’s not on Aida. It’s stamped on regular fabric, which is absolutely odd. I also have Stonehenge, which is stamped on Aida like it should be. The odd one is a Dimensions brand. Cross-stitch is not meant to be done on regular fabric like embroidery. It uses blunted needles. Embroidery uses sharp needles because one needs to punch holes in the fabric. The holes are already there on Aida.

I think next week will be better as the humidity is supposed to be much lower. I did some lowkey things like organizing some craft supplies, but I mostly just existed.

It’s a struggle lately to get the blog up. I’m not really sure why. Perhaps I’ll take July off as it’s my birthday month. I’ll have more to say come August anyway.

Catch you on the flip side,

Rae
