2026 – Week 5

Still sick, I was thankful for my Instant Pot several times recently. It truly helps when energy is low.

Though I continued to struggle, I managed to get some groceries done and deal with the snow. I didn’t make it to an information session I had hoped to attend. I was on vacation, but it was downtown and I didn’t see how I could make it there while feeling so tired and dizzy, so I released my spot for someone else to have.

On Thursday, I was given my blood test results. It’s the D. No, not that one, my gutter minded friends. It turns out that my vitamin D levels are really low. I didn’t know it could present like anemia and mess with my cycle. There have been a lot of other symptoms and I’ll do a separate post soon on all of it. I’m really thankful it wasn’t any of the worse things on the list as some were truly scary. So I get to supplement and see if that corrects it. It can take up to 12 weeks to feel better, so we’ll see. If it doesn’t work, a deeper dive will be needed.

Outside of that, my inflammation levels are also high. This isn’t unexpected due to having Sjogren’s (pronounced show-grins). I’m not on medication for it because the only thing available when I was diagnosed ten years ago was hydroxychloroquine and I was allergic to it. Yeah, that’s that drug that people learned existed during the pandemic for stupid reasons. It’s also used to prevent malaria. Anyway, I’m now waiting to see a new rheumatologist to see if there are other options for me that I’m not allergic to. This happens a lot. The reacting to drugs thing. It’s annoying and probably due to the other ingredients rather than the medication itself.

But Vitamin D and some others like E also help with inflammation, so that one thing may improve a lot of things for me. It’s been tied to a lot of health conditions including allergies. Time will tell, but hopefully I’ll be feeling a whole lot better by softball season because I have balls to catch.

Also this week, I had to reclean clothing after reacting to a laundry detergent. It was Purex Free & Clear, but apparently it’s not hypoallergenic. I did not enjoy having hives on my butt! I switched to a hypoallergenic, no bottle sheet kind and so far, so good. I really didn’t need that!

I have so many plans and I’m hoping to have the energy for them soon. At least all the time spent forced to rest has let me figure out some condo reorganization plans. More to come on that when I’m feeling better.

I even got a non-fiction project outline going. It was something I’ve had rattling about in my head forever. Will it become a real book? Your guess is as good as mine at this point, but I think it will be fun to do the research for it. And fun is important with creative projects.

In Hytale, I have been monkeying about with my own world when I’m not on with my friends. I’ve been figuring out how I want to set up my base and where. I’m looking forward to when they eventually turn on the RPG content. I’m eager to try the Adventure mode! So far, I really like a lot of the game. I do find some things a bit arduous like how quickly tools break. There are a lot of updates to come, so they might tweak things like that.

Thus far, I find most of the differences from Minecraft to be improvements. I think there is a good structure in place for introducing new items. Right now, the upgradeable workstations are limited to Tier 10, but they could use these stations as a way to introduce new items later on if they want. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do. We’re on Update 2 now. Some YouTubers expect we’ll have a regular release schedule in the near future. They have been regularly updating the launcher to fix connection issues. It doesn’t seem to be taking them huge amounts of time to identify and correct problems, which is refreshing.

I had this whole rant planned on iron, but I know it’s being fixed as my friends and I switched to the pre-release version.

One thing I’m hoping for is a story mode instead of just fighting to survive walking outside constantly and it’s not fun. I play games for the relaxation. My day-to-day life is too hard already that I don’t want this in a game. I want to make pretty things and collect achievements.

I’ve been surviving by watching CSI: New York. I borrowed the DVDs from my dad’s place awhile back and it has helped me have something to get through this frustrating time period.

Anyway, onward and upward!

Catch you on the flip side,

Rae
