2026 – Week 21

This weekend in Canada was a long weekend. A holiday some feel we could do without since it leaves us connected to the British monarchy. But it’s also one of the first nice weekends that comes after winter, so I feel like we would need to celebrate it somehow regardless. Winter can be extra long in Canada after all.

Mine was spent reorganizing furniture, decluttering, renovating, doing martial arts, and relaxing. There is still a ton to do around Tiny Condo, but it was a very good start to be ready for the annual condo inspection. My computer desk is back in my office. My comfy chair is in my living room. Lots to declutter yet, but it was a great step forward. Some items will be moved around post inspection.

Tuesday had me installing my air conditioner. I was going to wait, but we had humidex of 34 Celsius in Ottawa and I couldn’t take it. I had to adjust it on Wednesday as something wasn’t making it happy. It still wasn’t happy on Thursday and I’m at a loss for what could be upsetting it at this point. It goes into an error code that is not really useful as it seems to be a code that indicates almost anything is wrong. It’s not that old, so it shouldn’t be having this issue. I guess I’ll deal with it further after inspection as well.

Wednesday was more laundry and light cleaning because it was also the PWHL championships. More on that below.

Thursday, more cleaning and decluttering. This was my life all weekend as well.

A slip on hardwood on Saturday had me miss sword swinging on Sunday. I landed pretty hard on my left bum cheek and my lower back was very unhappy about it. I gingerly kept going on the cleaning because I wouldn’t make it otherwise. But I took breaks and had the first three of The Mummy movies on as I dealt with my bedroom.

There will still be stuff on my horizontal surfaces in all likelihood as I just don’t think I can get through the small things in time. Too many decisions to make on too many things. Maybe I’ll put them all in a cardboard box to sort through later on…

2026 PWHL Playoffs

Ottawa won game 3 in regulation, so the Walter Cup stayed in its case.

Wednesday evening brought us game 4. And that brought Montreal the Walter Cup.

It’s bittersweet. I wish the Charge would’ve won, but at least the most deserving other option won it. Marie-Philip Poulin and Ann-Renée Desbiens along with other amazing women like Laura Stacey, Abby Roque, and Maggie Flaherty absolutely deserved to hoist the Walter Cup.

Maybe next year, Ottawa.

Catch you on the flip side,

Rae
