2026 – Week 23

I didn’t do much on Monday given the back pain. I slept horribly. But I got a brace on Tuesday since I didn’t have anything at home to provide compression with and it helped to have it on. I took it off for bed. I felt a lot better on Wednesday.

I was also excited on Wednesday because it was a major update day for Disney Dreamlight Valley. They were fixing some things, giving us a new realm, and it’s just fun to have new content. Oh, and we were getting more of the Grand Exhibition. Players are split on this. Some, like me, love the museum content. Others don’t see the point. But that’s a beautiful thing about DDLV, you can choose how you want to spend your time. Lately, I’ve been making myself a farming and storage centre on the Tangled theme floating island. By the end of the weekend, I had Hercules and Phil unlocked and I completed the two new Grand Exhibition areas.

On Saturday, I finished the install of the third quarter of the backsplash in the kitchen.

I am now ready for the grouting and sealing phase to begin. This is the necessary last thing to finish before prepping for countertop cutting, install, caulking, and oiling. I figured it may be best to caulk before treating to ensure the treatment of the surface doesn’t prevent the caulk from adhering to the surface and doing its job. I will be treating it with a food safe oil + stain specially made for butcher block counters. I won’t be cutting directly on my counters, but it’s important that it’s safe for contact.

I’ve also recently gotten back to my Fairy Cross-Stitch project. It’s getting very close to being done. Dark blue on navy Aida fabric is not my favourite thing at this point, but I will conquer it! Soon, I’ll be needing to find a frame for it.

I enjoyed sword swinging on Sunday. One of the lessons was that slow and accurate is preferred to fast and sloppy. This is something that is common in other activities like music or really anything one wants to learn. We were also doing some beginner stuff because there was one beginner who came. In the previous week, the dojo was so full there wasn’t room for certain kata to be done safely. This week, we had more room and worked on the first five kata in Omori-Ryu. The fifth one is quite odd in standing style as one almost needs to assume the opponent fell to the ground at some point for it to make sense.

Life is beginning to feel better lately. I suppose it helps that it’s spring as well.

Catch you on the flip side,

Rae
