2026 – Week 33

With my course schedule and outlines having been released on Monday, I was able to plan some things. But my new physical planner wasn’t due to arrive until Thursday. I had decided to get a new planner for the school and career change adventure. I’ve chosen a Tiefossi one partly due to finding a YouTuber who had great ideas for actually useful school related spreads instead of spreads people think should be done. The last thing any student needs is extra work that isn’t helpful in getting through school.

The Aurora Awards happened on Sunday, August 9th and the results are posted for those interested in Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy.

On Tuesday, I worked on my bookshelves as part of getting my home ready for school. I also spent some time reading one of my course books.

I looked forward to my bi-monthly massage appointment on Wednesday. I was still quite sore from martial arts though I have started using some creatine to hopefully reduce recovery time. I had gotten a hold of some imaging results I was never called about and we could verify exactly what the problem was with my left shoulder after I had hurt it back in the winter. The result? Tendinopathy in the supraspinatus tendon with moderate heterogenous texture and tendinopathy in the subscapularis tendon. So inflamed tendons with a likely micro tear in the supraspinatus tendon in other words. My therapist gave me some exercises to safely work and strengthen it. One I can’t do yet without some pain, so the rest will be my focus first.

After that, I awaited the first of some school related deliveries to arrive. In the evening, I completed my bookshelf reorganization. There may be more to do in the future here, but this was good enough to be able to focus on the rest of the living room cleanup.

Thursday brought a transition meeting regarding a specific contract I would not have time to tender. It also brought an appointment with my doctor. My other ear turned out to be infected. Unfortunately for me, I had to wait until the pharmacy could get the drops for it in. I suppose I could’ve gotten pills instead as it was offered by my doctor, but we haven’t been able to identify what I’m reacting to in medicines. I suspect it’s the starches and dyes.

Friday held another milestone. That was informing my portfolio that I would no longer be their procurement specialist. My prescription was supposed to come in on Friday, but I wasn’t contacted.

On Saturday, I called the pharmacy. They said that I could come in and they would expedite it, so always call when something is off rather than sitting around frustrated and in pain. And I did feel quite frustrated. Rather like Charlie Brown, I wanted to scream because I’m so tired of ear infections messing up my plans.

Charlie Brown is the property of Chuck Jones.

Sunday was sword swinging day, but I played some Satisfactory before heading there. I flipped it to peaceful mode and I enjoy it so much more now. I found a way to make crafting better. I found the perfect thing to hold the crafting button down.

Sword swinging was good though a bit weird without Sensei. He recently retired from work and is taking a break from having a set schedule. It’s honestly fair. We spend so much of our lives on someone else’s schedule whether it be school, work, kids, or a partner that taking a breather is more than warranted.

The construction continues at home. It’s interesting seeing the process of building a building. I think they are perhaps making a multiple level parking lot. Really not sure on that, but here is an updated collage.

I was able to get a bit closer to it all this week. The first three are where the building is supposed to go. They poured some cement in there this week. The last three photos are supposed to be where the parking lot will be for the building, but it continues to confuse me on the structure and process of it.

Anyway, next week is my last week at work and I’m looking forward to having a little break before school.

Catch you on the flip side,

Rae
